Rink Rebels · Our shared expectations

Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct

Parents, guardians and spectators help shape the experience. Make the rink a place where players can learn, compete and enjoy hockey.

Keep encouragement positive

  • Celebrate effort, improvement and teamwork, not only results.
  • Let coaches coach and officials officiate. Avoid shouting instructions, criticism or insults from the stands.
  • Respect every player, family, opponent, volunteer and staff member. Bullying, threats and discriminatory behaviour are unacceptable.

Support your child’s wellbeing

  • Listen to your child and support their enjoyment of hockey without pressure to play through injury or distress.
  • Share relevant participation or safety concerns with the coach through an appropriate private conversation.
  • Help your child arrive prepared and follow the attendance, supervision and pickup arrangements for their activity.

Raise concerns respectfully

  • Discuss concerns calmly and privately, away from players and the heat of a game.
  • For routine hockey questions, contact the coach or program organizer. For a safety concern or a concern about the coach, contact Rink Rebels directly.
  • Do not confront children, officials or other families. Urgent safety concerns should be raised immediately.

Respect privacy and shared spaces

  • Follow rink rules and respect equipment, facilities and other people’s belongings.
  • Do not photograph or record in changing rooms or other private spaces. Respect families’ photo preferences.
  • Keep social media and team chats supportive. Do not post personal attacks or private information about players.
